Top 2 Facial Toners
My ultimate secret to healthy looking skin is facial toners. However I’m just like most people, I have days where my face breaks out as well. Now that I’m getting older, I try my best to take care of my skin. Once or twice a week, I let my face breathe. What does that mean? It’s simple…no makeup!
My Skin “Routine”
I like to wash my face with a facial cleanser and then I like to use a toner to make sure there is absolutely no gunk left in my pores from the night before. Not only does it clean my face, but my face is left feeling tight. Then I apply my favourite moisturizer (you can always go the extra mile and wear a serum before your moisturizer). If I plan on going the day without makeup, then I make sure I wash my face in the morning and then I apply my toner and moisturizer. I make sure to repeat this process at night before bed. If I choose to apply makeup, then I make sure to: wash my face, use my facial toner and moisturize before applying my makeup. I like to use a gentle face wash in the morning and if I want a deep cleanse, I use a face wash that exfoliates at night. Below are my top two toners and why I’ve grown to love them so much.
1.PIXI – GLOW TONIC
Before PIXI Beauty arrived to Canada I heard plenty of amazing reviews. I’m not one to jump on the bandwagon so I made sure to do my own research first. Upon doing some research I realized it didn’t have alcohol and it was affordable- retail price: $20 CDN, 100ml. I decided to make my very first purchase from Shoppers Drug Mart . I tried it and I instantly fell in love with it. I found the name to be so fitting “Glow Tonic” . After one use I instantly noticed that my face was glowing. On days where I don’t want to wear makeup, I use this toner and I apply my moisturizer and my face looks radiant. The product has a beautiful rose water scent. If you are like me and at times you’re too lazy to make your very own rose water toner hack, this is the perfect purchase for you!
On my hunt for affordable alcohol-free facial toners, I came across Thayers Witch Hazel. A few things drew me to this toner . It’s ” Alcohol-Free”, “Aloe Vera Formula” and “Cucumber”. I heard lots of good things about Witch Hazel for the skin, so again, I decided to do my own research. I learned that Witch Hazel is a type of medicinal plant, which according to Dr. Axe, American Indians relied on for fighting swelling, sores and infections. Amongst it’s many benefits, it is known to reduce acne. Although I don’t have much acne, I knew it would be worth the try for my occasional breakouts. Boy oh boy, was it worth the try! I instantly noticed that it helped reduce the appearance of pores. I noticed that I don’t have as many blackheads. Thayers’ comes in different scents. Since my Pixi glow tonic already had a rose scent, I opted for the cucumber one. As soon as I opened the bottle, it was if I chopped up a bunch of cucumbers and placed them in water. My skin does breakout in the winter, and now that we’re going into summer I started using this toner. I’ve been using it for a month and I’m already noticing results; my skin’s texture has improved. My face was left feeling smooth, fresh, tight and hydrated- $10.95 for a 12 oz. bottle, you can’t go wrong!
